His glass birds are Oiva Toikka’s best-known works. The Whip-poor-will (or Willow Duck) features bands of green to brown stripes running around an otherwise transparent body. The clear head allows a glimpse inside between the stripes.

Birds have been a source of inspiration to Oiva Toikka for 30 years. Each glass bird is individually handmade at Iittala’s sister factory in Nuutajãrvi, Finland.
