Glass Bird by Oiva Toikka

Description: This elegant bird is a watery blue flecked with green, with the blue becoming darker as it nears the head. Toikka’s distinctive marbling technique creates texture and gives the effect of feathers. A rich purple distinguishes the beak, and the tail is unique, even among Toikka birds, because it is split. The two strands gently overlap in an intriguing manner.
Oiva Toikka is one of the greatest names in Finnish glass. His imaginative, rich and bold glass art sets him apart from the streamlined aesthetic of Nordic design. Each glass bird is individually handmade at iittala’s sister factory in Nuutajãrvi, Finland. Birds have been a source of inspiration to Oiva Toikka for 30 years. These glass birds are his best-known works.

Bird measures 6.25" tall, 12.5" long and 5" wide.
