Red Ibis
Glass Bird by Oiva Toikka

Description: The Red Ibis calls attention to one of the world’s most endangered birds, a natural specimen worthy of admiration. Oiva Toikka’s Red Ibis boasts deep red plumage and stands proud on a pedestal leg. His long hooked beak is poised, ready to dig in the sand.
Toikka’s imaginative, rich and bold glass art sets him apart from the streamlined aesthetic of Nordic design. Birds have been a source of inspiration to him for over 30 years. In fact, Toikka’s glass birds are his best-known works, placing him as one of the greatest names in Finnish glass. Each glass bird is made individually by hand at Iittala’s sister factory in Nuutajãrvi, Finland. The series has been an international success, with works included in some of the world’s most important museums and collections.

The Red Ibis is 6-1/2" (16.5 cm) tall and 8" (20 cm) long
