The Bullfinch, by renowned Finnish artist Oiva Toikka, was introduced in 1994. A smooth glossy black head scans the horizon and is supported by a sandblasted body with a bright red neck and breast. The back and the tail of this bird are soft mottled black and white creating interesting grey markings. This bird is a magnificent mix of color, shape, and pattern.
Oiva Toikka is one of the greatest names in Finnish glass. His imaginative, rich and bold glass art sets him apart from the streamlined aesthetic of Nordic design. Birds have been a source of inspiration to Oiva Toikka for 30 years. Each glass bird is individually handmade at Iittala’s sister factory in Nuutajãrvi, Finland. Toikka’s collection of glass birds is his best-known work.
